Clean Stainless Steel Stove Hood?

I need to clean what seems like a million very small white paint specks off of a stainless steel stove hood. When I try to rub it off it starts to scratch. What can I do? How can I fix scratches? Thanks for any help!

I would try glass cleaner and a clean cotton towel. If that doesn't budge the spots, you could try rubbing alcohol or mineral spirits instead. Scratched stainless steel is difficult to return to its normal appearance, so be careful not to have anything on the towel that could scratch it.

The paint is likely latex. Goof Off is popular among forum posters for removing dried latex.
