Black Mold in Attic - How to Remove?

A friend (honest!) has a 18 yr old great room ranch that has black mold in the attic. The root cause I believe is a shower stall fan venting directly to the attic. The mold is not excessive, but it is spotty on several of the rafter supports and some of the plywood sheathing.

There is plenty of space in the attic to get up there and work on the problem. What should we use to remove the mold? Common household chlorine bleach applied with a garden sprayer? Gallons of Tilex? Some other chemical? How do the pro's do this?

Lack of air transfer (venting) is a concern since it is an attic. What type of equipement should we be prepared to wear to protect our eyes, skin and lungs?

Thanks.

Spray mold with bleach & water solution. (1/4 cup/1 quart water) Spray, wait 20 minutes, and repeat. You can protect yourself with goggles, gloves, and breathing protection.

Bathroom vent should not be vented into attic. Mold removal will not prevent it from returning if venting problem is not corrected. Adequate attic ventilation is also necessary.

It was suggested to us to use pool chlorine. Has anyone ever tried to use this? Thanks.

Pool chlorine and bleach are basicly the same thing. The owner of the house should contact the contractor that installed the vent..if one did. Venting directly into a attic if never a good idea.
