If material is canvas, bleach/water solution may take a toll on dye. Mold/mildew stains are next to impossible to remove from fabric. Wash with a solution of 1/2 cup Lysol concentrate to a gallon of hot water to disinfect. Rinse with a solution of 1 cup lemon juice and 1 cup salt to a gallon of hot water and air dry in sun to help lighten stains. There are commercial tent and camping gear cleaners available that are touted to remove tough stains. After canvas is clean and dry, treat with water-repellent. Never store canvas wet. Allow to air dry before putting in storage position to prevent mildew. Keeping canvas clean and dry tends to help prevent mold and mildew.

If material is vinyl, bleach/water solution or Lysol can be used. Again, stains tend to be impossible to remove. Rinsing with lemon juice and salt water solution and air drying in sun may lighten stains.
