We've got pine doors which are varnished. The edges of each of the doors are really sticky. I've tried just using an ordinary household cream cleaner to remove the stickiness but it hasnt' worked. Any suggestions?

I'd just use a little dishsoap in a bucket of water and wipe them down with a rag wetted in the mixture.

Finishes on cabinetry and doors will become dull, soft, and sticky overtime due to oils and soils from hands. Frequent cleaning will mild soap and water tend to prevent this. Once finish is damaged and sticky, cleaning, sanding, and refinishing is recommended.
