Dining chair condensation stains
Hi,
I have been given a set of dining chairs but because they have been in storage for awhile they now have brown condensation stains on the silky cotton material, I have tried vanish but that hasn't worked, does anyone have any suggestions?
regards

The fabric is likely not a washable fabric and can not be cleaned with water or water-based fabrics. It is likely that the stain can not be removed. I had success removing similar stains from upholstery in storage by blotting with ammonia. Some stains would not budge from the washable fabric. Diningroom chair bottoms are an easy DIY project to replace fabric.

The stains I had were brown like tobacco juice. The warehouse where the furniture was stored had a leak. I assumed it was tannic acid from water dripping from wooden rafters.
The moisture that collected under the plastic could have lifted soil from fabric or padding. Mold/mildew stains are typically dark gray/black. Water stains are unfortunately often permanent.
If the fabric is white and can be cleaned with water or water-based cleaners, hydrogen peroxide could be used. Because the fabric blend is 'silky' it could be a blend of cotton and silk. Enzyme digester cleaners are water based and they can not be used on silk because silk is organic and the enzymes will digest the silk.
