How to remove rubber stain on Finished Bar

I placed a rubber mat on a finished ash wood bar and have a huge black rubber stain on a blond ash wood bar. Is there a way to clean it or does the top need to completely refinished

Depending on how tough the final finish is, you may want to try Methyl Ethyl Keytone (MEK). It has a high flash point and does good as a general cleaner without the harshness of Laquer thinner or the like. You have little to lose, so I would try it on a small area. If the finish is clear, it may tend to fog the finish, but it can be buffed out with wax.

Always test any DIY method in inconspicuous place first. If finish is lacquer, mineral spirits can be used. If finish is polyurethane, acetone can be used. If finish was removed, to restore it will require lightly sanding and reapplication of same type of finish.
