Question Lestoil stain on hardwood floor

My little brother mistakenly used Lestoil to try to clean spots on our hardwood floor. We've tried Murphy's Oil Soap and a baking soda/water mixture, but the spots still remain (largest is 4-inch circle). Any tips for removing the stain?

what type of floor is it? polyurethane sealed or urethane surface sealed?

almost sounds like some of the finish has been removed or damaged

are the areas whitish in color?

i would take some vinegar/warm water and rinse area to see if its residue

murphys oil leaves residue on hardwood i would suggest using the vinegar and water

8oz/per gal

use a well rung out mop...buff dry with a soft towel

if the area does not improve you may need to get a polish or "wax" to repair area...it may not look 100% just doing those areas

Thanks for your response! I believe the floor is polyurethane sealed. We use (dilluted) Murphy's Oil for regular cleaning of the floor - do you not recommend it even for sealed areas?

if its polyurethane i would try to repolsih the area after a good rinse

i would suggest either going to a nonresidue poly cleaner or the vinegar i suggested before...murphys oil is good for wood items that arent meant to be touched or come into contact with traffic

the oil soap even diluted will still have some oil residue...over time it builds up and attracts soil
