rust spots on dishwasher front

rust spots on dishwasher front
The stainless front of our amana dishwasher has developed small rust spots all over it. What can we do to clean the surface?

What has been used in the past to clean the stainless?
Sounds like some areas have been pitted and the stainless finish worn down. Acidic pH cleaners will do this. Also some of the lower grade stainless can even do this over time. Very fine steel wool like 000 and stainless cleaner and polish may improve the look and help seal the bare areas. As far as painting..i dont think i know of any ways for paint to stick to it without flaking off down the road
