Carpet dyeing is best left to professionals. Some carpet cleaning services offer dyeing. They have the proper equipment and quality dyes. A note of significance is that all carpets can not be dyed because of fiber type. Some simply do not take dye.
All carpet stains should be attended to immediately. The longer they set the more difficult it is to remove them. Sometimes it is impossible. A carpet cleaning professional has an arsenal of stain removers that are often much more effective than DIY spot removers.
Type of stain and carpet fiber determine the type of stain removal method. Using the wrong cleaner can take a toll on unstable dyes and weaken carpet fibers. DIY carpet cleaning can leave residues that attract soil, cause rapid resoiling, and possible staining. Some cleaners can set stains.

Have a pro clean your carpet. If you still want it dyed, have a pro do that as well. We've taken a lot of money out of security deposits over the years after people have tried to do this kind of thing themselves.

I agree with mitch if you rent the home, bit the bullet and talk to YOUR landlord first. This way, say if you have a pro clean your carpet before talking to him and something goes wrong or even after they clean it..the spots dont come out. You will pay for the cleaning + whatever your landlord descides to do ie:replacement, reclean etc.
