Unhappy HELP!!! Is my sheepskin pillow ruined?

I just got home to find that my roommate washed my sheepskin pillow. Now, after going through the washer and dryer, the thing is all matted on the edges, and doesn't have a "sheep hair" look to it. It just looks messed up. This was a gift, and holds a lot of meaning to me, otherwise I'd just get a new one. I've tried to pick apart the clumps with a comb, but that is just making me more depressed. Any ideas?

I'm afraid that the dryer heat made the sheepskin worse for wear. The sheepskin cover should have been removed. Washing in cool water and mild soap or wool wash and spinning to remove excess water is recommended. Sheepskin should be air dried and stretched to shape while damp. Air drying should bedone away from direct sunlight and heat source. Never tumble dry sheepskin as this can damage the wool.

You might continue combing the wool. A pet's comb or brush may be beneficial. If it's possible to untangle the wool, rewash and dry as recommended. Don't forget to remove the cover.
