smoke damaged marble

Our home burned recently. We have an antique English washstand that has heavy smoke damage. We have refinished the wood but do not know how to clean the marble. Could someone help us?

a dry chemical sponge may work...but also may sure that your insurance knows about everything damaged..

homeowners should cover replacement or cleaning of damaged items

do a search on the net in your favorite engine for the sponge

Dry sponges can often be found at hardware stores and home centers. They work like giant erasers to remove soot. Once soot is removed, then use quality marble polish and sealer.
