The sink in the laundry recently overflowed, pouring water onto the floor. While we immediately absorbed the standing water, some of the water went to the downstairs area as well.
While there was no drywall damage, there is some smell in the lower level, possibly from mildew. The area tends to be damp even though it is all above ground.
I am considering getting one or more dehumidifiers for the area but also welcome suggestions on how to make the air more neutral smelling.

you will be amazed what will a little bit of water will do...i would get at least one dehumidifer and let it run...i think you should have one down there no matter what...place fans down there will also help...
when in doubt contact a water damage company
i wouldnt use air freshners yet...it smells because something is still wet...solve the dampness and the smell will go away
