Carpet stain

Hi,

Yesterday, I dropped a bit of tomato sauce on the beige carpet. I tried to clean it right away with Bicarbonate of Soda - that is, I sprinkled bicarbonate on the stains then rubbed with a wet towel. The stains are gone, but now there's a white stain due to the bicarbonate. Perhaps I used too much bicarbonate?
Could you tell me if there is something I could do to remove the stain?

Thanks a lot in advance!
Aurélie

take a white rag and gently blot it and use cool plain water to rinse it..after you worked it the best you can. Set a few dry rags and put a plastic bucket with some sand or other heavy object in it

Docduck's idea works but I don't have as much patience as he does. I would spray the area with clean water, work it in with a brush and then hit it with a wet/dry vac, repeating until the stain is gone.
