What type of tile and how to clean?

Greetings everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of tile this was and how to clean/repair it. It seems the cleaner that was used to clean the shower walls had either left a residue or ate away at the wall. The white streaks feel like an impression so it's possible that the cleaner (lysol bathroom cleaner) was too strong. Is there any way to help this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

most of the time in showers you will see either ceramic or poreclen..but there are other options...if your finger nails catches the lines...then the tile has been etched and it is what it is....if you can feel a bump you may be able to remove it

a good tip is not to use any real strong cleaners or abrasives..i can see the lines in the picture so you have your work cut out for you

a soft scrub cleaner and elbow grease may improve..IF the lines feel like bumps...after/if you can get it decent...regular cleaning and keeping the walls dry after uses will help...a mild mixture of vinegar in water may also help if this is scale....4 or 5 ozs per gallon just do not go too strong with the vinegar

Unfortunately, my fingernails do feel like they catch the lines on the wall so I guess they've been etched.

Would it be better to even out wall then for the sake of keeping everything looking the same? or is there any way to fill in the etching?

if you tried to even out the rest of the wall...i do not think you would like the looks..it wouldnt be uniform..really nothing is going to fill in the etching and give you a decent look again...may have to consider new tile
