Table Help

I have a very nice wood table in my house. My wife put a runner down the middle of the table. Tonight we were going to clean and polish the table as she removed the runner it was stuck to the table. One of our kids must of left something on the runner that leaked thru onto the finished wood. A lot of the fabric from the runner was stuck to the table. We used soap and water and the fabric came off. But now we have a sticky substance that is on the finished wood along with a slightly faded ring around where whatever it was they had on the table sat and leaked thru the runner. It did not come off using our home furniture cleaning kit. Someone mentioned Goo Gone but I'm not sure if it will really ruin the finish on this nice table. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums!

I wouldn't think 'goo gone' would hurt the finish. Mineral spirits should also work. Just in case - it wouldn't hurt to test any solvent on a hidden area first.
