Marker + 2yrs old + hardwood floor

So my 2yrs old got ahold of a marker and was coloring in his play room and now I have a work of art in black (assuming perminent) marker on the hardwood floor in there.
My son knew he was in trouble, and will not tell me where he hid the marker, so I am assuming it was a Sharpe brand marker.
The floor is old 1930's hardwood which I believe was bleached down to a lighter color sometime in the past. The finish is pretty good on the floor, so it can take some cleaning abuse.

Any suggestions for getting perminent marker off the hardwood floor?

You might try a little mineral spirits on a rag and see how that does.

Alcohol is the best solvent for regular ink but permanent markers need naphtha to remove the ink.

I think Goof-off contains naphtha but I can't recall.

I'll look into both options.

Oh the joys of an old house and 95% of it being hardwood floor.

Denatured alcohol will dissolve shellac.... but surely the finish isn't that old - might ought to test first if you don't know for sure.
