Is CLR okay on slate tile?

If slate is properly sealed, doesn't the sealant provide an effective barrier to acidic cleaning agents? Therefore, isn't it okay to periodically clean slate with CLR?

Why would you need something this strong in the first place?

I would not trust the sealer to protect the floor from this stuff.

Maybe I don't need something as strong as CLR. I hope not. What about vinegar?

Vinegar might be a good choice but what is it you're actually trying to accomplish - what is it you need to get off the floor?
