Hard Water Stain Removal

Anyone with hard water or water with minerals. You will get that disgusting looking buildup in the bottom of the toilet bowl. Turn off the water and flush so the bowl remains empty. Dump enough white vinegar into the bowl to cover the stain. Leave sit overnight or all day and then scrub with a toilet brush.Really heavy deposits may need multiple treatments. Use on a regular basis to prevent the heavy buildup from re-occurring.

[U]Appliance Cleaning Tips[/U]: If your vacuum cleaner hose attachment will not fit under your refrigerator to clean the condenser coils, try using a rubber band to hold an old sock or rag to the end of a yardstick. Slide the stick under the refrigerator to clean the condenser coils and between fins, fan blades, etc. Use warm water to clean the plastic and glass portions of your refrigerator. Hot water may cause them to break. Kill mildew and prevent it from returning by wiping down the walls and shelves with vinegar. [U]Range Cleaning Tips[/U]: To clean a "not so messy" oven, place a small bowl of ammonia on the top shelf and a bowl of boiling water on the bottom shelf of an cold oven. Leave them there overnight, then wipe clean in the morning. Baking soda is a safe, gentle abrasive. Pour onto a sponge and wipe. Clean the stove top with white vinegar. Grease and grime disappear leaving it streak-free and shiny. [U]Dishwasher Cleaning Tips[/U]: Can use a damp cloth and baking soda to clean the inside Running a short cycle with Crystal Tang in the dishwasher can help freshen and clean up the inside. For some filmy residue on the inside, fill a bowl with one cup of bleach and place on the lower rack. Run a short cycle wash, but do not use the dry cycle. [U]Pots/Pans and Dishes Cleaning Tips[/U]: Burnt pans can be easy to clean, coat the bottom with baking soda and add water to cover. Let stand for at least 3 hours, then gently scrape out the burnt food with a plastic spatula. To remove calcium and hard water filming, soak glasses in distilled water and vinegar overnight. Tea and coffee stains can be easily removed with a solution of 2 tablespoons of bleach to one cup of warm water. let soak for an hour or two. [U]Laundry Cleaning Tip[/U]: [U]Antiperspirant[/U] - Blot the spot with a paper towel dampened with a solution of baking soda and vinegar. Wash as usual in the hottest water that is safe for the fabric. [U]Baby formula[/U] - If the stains don't come out with normal washing, ( don't dryer dry yet ), squeeze lemon juice on the spot and let it sit in the sun until it has dried. Then launder as usual. [U]Blood[/U] - Get to the bloodstains immediately. Rinse well in cold water, then try one of the following... Sprinkle stain with unflavored meat tenderizer Blot on hydrogen peroxide with a damp cloth, allow to bubble, then wipe with a fresh cloth. Repeat if necessary. For dried bloodstains, soak overnight in cold water and two cups of salt. Wash as usual. [U]Cosmetics & Fabric Softener[/U] - A bar of white soap should be all you need. Wet the stain and rub the soap into it. Use a pre-wash formula if the stain persists and rewash. [U]Grass[/U] - Mix 1/3 cup vinegar and 2/3's cup water. Apply to the stain and blot. Or pre-soak in hydrogen peroxide and launder as usual. [U]Grease[/U] - Use a powder, such as talcum or cornstarch, to soak up any excess grease. When powder gets thick, scrape away and repeat. Place garment face down on paper towels and then apply a dry cleaning solvent or liquid detergent. Then dampen the area with water and then rub with a bar of white soap. Wash as usual. Ring on the collar - Brush shampoo into the collar using a stiff brush, launder as usual. [U]Vomit[/U] - First is too scrape up as much as you can. Flush the spot in cold water to dilute the acid. Soak the item in warm water and 1 teaspoon of detergent. Rinse with cool water until the stain disappears. Wash as usual. You can machine wash you delicates by placing them in a mesh laundry bag and use the gentle cycle on your washer. [U]Oven Cleaning Tips[/U]: Never use oven cleaners, harsh abrasives or scrape the interior surfaces of continuous cleaning ovens. Doing so will damage the surface forever. Continuous cleaning oven compartment surfaces are coated with a material that is designed to absorb the liquids of spills, boil overs, grease etc. and leave behind only the dried ash. The truth of the matter is the surfaces are suppose to look spotted and stained. To clean continuous cleaning oven compartment surfaces, wipe the surface with a mild soapy water solution to remove the dried ash while the surface is still slightly warm. Rinse with a clean damped sponge or towel. When cleaning any porcelain coated oven {gas or electric} surface with spray oven cleaners, never spray it on any temperature sensing elements found inside the baking compartment. Cover all elements with a damped paper towel or cloth. Doing so will protect the sensing elements from corrosive chemical damage. Do not spray the light bulb. Turn off the electrical power or unplug the appliance. Remove the bulb and place a half sheet of dry paper towel into the bulb socket. Do not get oven cleaner spray on glow igniter bars or coils. Glow igniter's sprayed with oven cleaners destroys the HSI ([U]Hot Surface Igniter[/U]). Over-spray on an HSI will do likewise. Cover the glow coil assembly with a clean dry cloth. Ovens with constant burning pilot flames, the pilot flame must be extinguished and assembly allowed time to cool. Cover the parts with a clean dry cloth prior to spraying. [U]HINT[/U]: Some ovens continue to allow pilot gas to flow while the pilot flame is extinguished. This is perfectly okay. Pilot gas is not hazardous. When the cleaning is completed, simply re lite the pilot. Do not spray the rubber or plastic door gaskets. Doing so will destroy the material. Remove any over spray immediately with a wet sponge or towel. :alarm: Always wear protective gloves. Eye protection if desired. Allow plenty of ventilation into the kitchen area. How do I Fix the Discoloration on this Carpet?

I have a few discoloration spots on my carpet that I cannot remove. They are in a location that is not disguisable by moving furnture, etc. I do not know what caused the faded bleached discoloration. I have tried rug shampoo and I have tried ammonia but I am unable to bring the color back to the rest of the carpet. Do you have any ideas what else I can try? If the carpet has been "bleached" out in that area, is there something I can use to match the spots with the rest of the carpet? There is some of the carpeting in a closet, but I am concerned that if I cut the patch out, the color difference between the closet carpet and the room carpet will be significant. I don't have the money for new carpets rights now. Thank you for your advice.Read More
