Mold Around Toilet

There is a black ring around the floor around base of toilet. Doesn't appear to be any water and no odor coming out of it, either. First thought is might need to replace the wax ring. Any other thoughts on how to solve this issue?

Did you try to tighten the nuts first?

What type of flooring? I had a similar issue at my previous place; replacing the wax seal stopped the leak but I had to replace the vinyl because it wouldn't clean up good enough.

It's possible that the bowl has condensation that's dripping down and causing the wetness and subsequently mold. Also some types of caulking uses are more susceptible to mold than others.

Just a thought before you go to the hassle of pulling the toilet.
