Hi Bob.

I moved your thread to the cleaning section. You should get a redirect and arrive here.

Is this film from hand washing your glasses or washing them in a dishwasher ?

Does not matter if you have one, is it working properly?
Tested the water yet?

Another way of asking Pete's question: are you sure this is a film and not scratching/etching of the glass?

If you wash them in a dishwasher, it's most likely etching, not hard water film. If you're sure it's a film, try lemi shine in the dishwasher and make sure you use a rinse agent.

Dishwashing detergent does etch glass and it's really noticeable on clear glasses.

Hate to say it but your wife is right--you either need to hand-wash all the clear glassware or buy new every few years.

It's actually a combination of the soap and calcium in the water.... even with a softener.
