Front Door Kick Plate needs cleaned
Below is a pic of out front door.
The kick plate needs cleaning after 6 yrs ..
I believe it is somw form of brass.
Can anyone tell me what product would work to clean the kick plate?
I shop at Lowes, so possibly some thing there?
thanks

Most of those cheap kick plates are just brass plated steel and after a few years they need to be replaced due to corrosion of the base metal.
Look for a real brass plate, not something on sale at big box store.

If what you have is real brass (you might be able to tell with a magnet...even if the door is steel) no reason not to polish it up. If it's screwed on, it's easier to remove and do it on a bench. If it's held on with adhesive strips...removing it will likely damage the door finish, so be prepared for that if you try.
If it's real brass and held on with strips, it will be more work, but better to leave it on.
Tape all around it with a couple of layers of masking tape to protect the paint and then Brasso away. You can also use NevR-Dull wadding, available at Walmarts and auto stores as an Eagle One product...but the same thing whether in a blue or silver can.
