Ultrasonic solution to clean door hardware

Doing front entry facelift. Was going to just replace 15 yr old tarnished (antique brass?) latch and deadbolt set but occurred to me that I might be able to clean it in my ultrasonic. Anyone know of a DIY solution that might work?

Thanks

A 15 year old entry set has seen better days, must be all corroded and the finish peeling, I dont think any amount of cleaning is going to revive that!

Most of the visible hardware I have seen is plated, cast zinc. Antique finished are often painted. I would start with solvent to see if you can dissolve the paint. Then you could paint on a new finish. If your handle is real cast brass then it's relatively easy to either polish or distress it to your liking.
