Closet Organizer for master Bedroom

Looking to build closet organizer for my master bedroom. We have a long wall closet instead of a walk in closet so I thought about maximizing the space by building an organizer.

What I'm thinking of doing is having the center of the closet have His and Her's shelving then two levels of hanger rods for pants on the bottom and shirts on top. The length of the closet is 120" if I remember right so there should be plenty of room for shelving and clothing rods.

What is the best wood to use to make the organizer? Doesn't have to be too expensive but I would like it to last.

Also is there anywhere on line that has good plans for making organizers?

Have you considered the metal open air shelving units? They have sub units with sweater shelving, shoe racks, pull out drawers, etc. Alot easier to install than wooden ones, but if you are stuck on wooden ones, we may can help. For information only go to www.chandlerscarpentry.com and click on projects two. I built some using 14 ply cabinet grade plywood with solid pine trim, installed closet rods, and even made him a custom tie rack. Maybe you can get some ideas there.
