Cat 5 is twisted pair but Cat 5e is just MORE twisted. It seems that the standard anymore is 5e. At least that's what I seem to see the most of these days. The only other difference may be the price. Again, I do not pay for it since I work for a telephone company but I know last I checked it is about 55-60 bucks for 1000ft of 5e. Other than that I can't think of any other differences off hand. Hope this helps!
