Phone Jack Problem
#1
Phone Jack doesn't work upstairs and shortens out all connections
Suddenly our phone upstairs does not work. We replaced the phone jack thinking that the problem existed there. The phone worked for one day and then stopped. The major problem is that when the phone upstairs goes dead it stops all phones from working. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Hi,
Think it is the phone or the jack?
Some places that should be able to help with the jack or wiring problems....

Borrow a neighbours phone to see if it works or not...might help to tell if your phone or phone line is bad.

If it's killing all of the phones in the house, then that means you have a short and not just a bad connection. Make sure none of the wires are getting crossed or touching somehow in the jack itself. Did you also replace the wire from the jack to the phone? It's possible it could have a short in it.
Let's just hope it's not the wire in the wall going to the jack - that could be a very difficult situation to remedy.
Good luck!

I am going to check what you said. I, too, hope that it is not the wire because it would be really difficult to remedy, not impossible, but difficult. Thanks for the suggestion to check out the wires in the jack either not touching or getting crossed.
