Floor mounted RJ11/RJ45
Building out a new office on the 1st floor of our house and I have a full basement below.
I need a RJ11 and a RJ45 jack installed beneath the desk and I am thinking of installing one of those brass electrical outlets into the floor and swapping out the outlet section with a female RJ11 and RJ45 - anyone ever installed floor mounted outlets?
How hard is this? What did you use to cut through the carpeting & padding to get to the subfloor - I would prefer to not pull up the carpeting as I am not very good installing carpet.
Thx

Here is a source of these faceplates for mounting in the floor.

The pedestal fitting at the top of the listing seems to be easier to install in a carpeted floor, since all you would need would be holes for the wire. The connectors would actually be above the floor. This box would not necessitate cutting a box size and shape hole in the carpet and subflooring.
Hope this helps.
