rewiring a house

my boss just bought a new house and he gutted the whole house. before he puts up drywall he wants me to rewire is phone lines. he had an alarm put on his house. my question is, is there any special way to hook up the jacks with an alarm installed. i've rewired houses before just none with an alarm system.
thanks.

When it's wired properly, the incoming phone line connects to the (normally) red/green terminal on the RJ31x jack for the alarm panel, and return on the brown/grey to feed all of the other phones in the house. Frequently, the diagram is on the inside of the alarm panel door.

Basically, it takes a 4 conductor cable, minimum, to pull this off. (and a special filter if dsl is involved).

the jacks hook up the same alarm or not

the diffrence is the phone line first goes through the alarm panel via RJ31x then out to the phones

that way if the alarm trips it can disconnect the phones and call in the alarm

if you want to do him a favor run two cat5e cables to each location and then back to a common point

star topography rather than loop

that way he has the ablity for home network , telephone system ect.

if you really want to do a a+++ job run conduit from each location back to the common point that way he is future proofed.

it can be flexible "blue tube" condit wouldnt have to be rigid.
