Intercom within building

Hi,
I like to setup intercom internal to our building so I can talk to my people either using phone or anything else. I bought small wireless intercom (standalone) but it does not work with over 100 ft distand and I need to talk to people who is in baseement for small amount of time over the speaker. I am not sure what is the cheapest and right solution for me.

I have building wired with enough capacity to use telephone or CAT5 line so I can use any type of connection to do so.

Can someone recommend what is the best solution for this type of situation.

I tried walkie talkie and it was waste too. (I guess I had cheaper version..and it did not work right.)

 

I personally prefer a phone system solution to an intercom. There are several reasons, but most are self-explanatory. If you already have the infrastructure for it, you can go with a simple phone system setup like a Panasonic or NEC. You can get a pretty good phone system for about the same as a good intercom system.

Tell me how many phone lines you have and how many extensions you need, and I'll make some suggestions on systems and give you an idea of what you can expect to pay.

We have only one phone line and one fax line. I am not looking for any extention since our people do not have thier own dedicated line or phone. one phone line is share among all of us. All we have is store with basement where shipping is being done. We have to run to basement very often because people doing shipping in basement cannot hear us. It is quite inconvenient to go back and forth since we can tell something via some type of communication device they do this...

it sounds like what you need is a talkback paging system

paging horn in the basement with the ablity for employees to "talk back"

"hey joe do we have and green widgets ? "

joe keeps doing what he is oing and yells back


"no but we have brown ones"

proper equipment choice and installtion is a little beyond the scope of DIY project check the yellow pages for Telephone equipmet and dealers

for refrence I would charge you 200 to 300 to set something like that up
