Phone line question

I'm finally getting rid of dial-up and getting a DSL line, which will mean switching my existing 2nd phone line which I use for my computer back to the main number for the rest of the house. I've seen plenty of information on how to add a 2nd line, but how do I wire the jack for my second line back to the main line?

Kind regards,
Eric

All you should need

to do is to change some wires around inside the jack. Open the jack up and you should see the RED wire from the jack connected to the YELLOW (or ORANGE w/WHITE trace) wire from the wall, and the GREEN jack wire connected to the BLACK (or WHITE w/ ORANGE) wire from the wall. Just change them to RED and RED (or BLUE w/WHITE trace) and GREEN and GREEN (or WHITE w/BLUE trace).

This should change the jack to work on line1. This link has good info on phone wiring: http://www.safewatchservice.com/phonewiring.php?

Hope this helps!
