Cat5e Jacks to Router

Cat5e Jacks to Router
I need some assistance with new wiring I just installed. I ran a Cat5 cable from a remodeled section of my basement to the wireless router getting internet access. The wireless part works fine... I cannot get the new Cat5 jacks to work!
I have one end with a Wall Jack using the 568B method and the other end with a plug installed to put directly into the router. Nothing works. However, if I put plugs on both ends it works fine, so I know hte cable is good.
What am I missing? I used the same order for everything:
orange/white, orange, green/white, blue, blue/white, green, brown/white, brown.
I have even replaced the wall jack and tried jacks on both ends....

crimping plugs to the end of a cat5 cable is bad practice and not standards compiant (evan though a lot of supposed pros do it )
proper way is ,jack in the wall cable to patch panel ,patch cords to router form the patch panel and to the computer from the jack.
DO it right once and dont worry about it .

are you using factory patch cords or making your own ?
how are you terminating the cable to the jack ?
using a tool or trying toolless ?
either 568a or 568b on both endsof the cable , dosnt matter a or b as long as both ends are the same .
with a straight thru (not a crossover ) patch cord should work .
we use a lot of the leviton with only a occasinal bad jack .
