Radio Static All Around The Home

I'm writing for my Parents', who live in a ranch home.

They live in a large metropolitan area, where radio signals are very strong. Yet, since July, irrespective of where they are in the house, they can't get radio reception.

Thinking the interference might be caused through their electrical system, they tried using battery powered radio's, and those too, experienced great interference.

A nearby neighbor has complained of increased interference too, yet none of the houses surrounding my Parents' home, appear to have made any changes.

We're baffled, as a drive around the neighborhood doesn't reveal anything unusual (no ham radio equipment, etc.).

Thanks in advance, for any ideas that might be offered.

try some ham radio sites , forums those guys are into radio reception , interference big time .

the only thing I would suggest is to kill all power to hte house turn off the main breaker, see if that helps

if it does then turn breakers on one at a time untiill the problem returns

Mango man, thanks for helpful suggestions Actually, I doubt that it's electrical interference, as a nearby neighbor is experiencing a similiar problem. The ham radio suggestion, on the other hand, is something worth investigating...

In fact, some years ago, we complained to a nearby neighbor, a ham radio operator, whose activities were causing problems in all of the surrounding houses. It never occured to me that their activities might be the culpret again, as the interference is a 24 x 7 problem.

Thanks again for writing.

If they take the battery powered radio out of the house does the interference still occur?
