DSL and telephone line filters
I have DSL service, and each phone, FAX, set-top-box needs a line filter. My wife hates having the little filters on each phone.
I'm thinking about running a separate wire from my connection box to the DSL modem, then installing one filter in the connection box for all phone lines. Would this work?

I agree. Done it myself, twice. Both still churning to this day. I see no need in introducing the home wiring (sometimes, bad, bad) into the equation. Yea, I know, it comes through a lot of resistance before it even gets on your property, but still. I don't see the need. Split it out.
Furthermore, and some will disagree I'm sure, I have just used the plain old filters they send. The one(s) with both data and voice port. Easiest way: Plug the filter into the test jack, then the male you took out of the test jack into the voice side of the filter. Then, come off the data side with your homerun.
Enjoy. I have yet to have a filter go bad, but I have many (or at least used to, hmm) in case.
