Question mobile data plan

I currently have a just talk cell phone plan-contract expires this month.
I do not use a phone much-maybe 300 min a month.
but I would like internet access, for email - occasional web search - gps if needed.
Not so much for games-maybe an occasional one.

any suggestions as to a 'basic' phone with these capabilities/ don't need the latest & greatest-with all the bells & whistles.

also any recommended carriers/providers-I'm in the gulf coast of Texas.

and how much time on the internet is '2GB' ?

any advice would be appreciated.

My wife opted for Net10 and a $15/month recharge for 200 minutes with rollover. She doesn't use the phone much at all and has over 1,000 minutes in the account. Texts are 1/2 minute each, and data is timed the same as talk.

A friend did a lot of research and chose T-Mobile with a smart phone for $34 a month. The phone will use wifi when available to reduce usage of minutes.

still curious as to how much time on the internet you would have for - 2GB ?
(i know that sending photos uses more of the data plan)

Mine is with ATT, and like Rick's friend my Atrix will use wi-fi before it connects to the internet if available. Not sure how much time for 2 GB. It will depend on whether you have E, 2G, 3 G or 4G coverage. My last trip to a big city I had an "H" on my screen where the G normally is. Not sure what that was about. I just always make sure I send large files while I am in range of McDonalds or other wi-fi outlets.
