cell phone won't ring

My wife has a cheap LG flip phone. A few days ago it started vibrating instead of ringing. The vibrate mode is turned off! It doesn't seem to matter what ring selection is made - the vibrate/buzz is all that seems to work

Any ideas on the fix? ..... maybe it's time to get one our kids to look at

Have you pressed and hold the "#" key? I know it is basic, but I had to ask.

Is the ringer volume up? I know on my phone, when you turn the ringer all the way down it will go to vibrate even if vibrate is off. I think most flip phones have the volume on the side. Maybe it was hit by mistake.

The volume is turned up - it's set on 5 [full volume] and yes, it's on the side but that button only works when the phone is flipped open. I think we're going to have to run down one of the kids and see if they can get it working right.

I'm sure something was hit by mistake but she has no idea what it was

On my flip phone the side buttons operate the earpiece volume when the phone is open. Go into the menu of the phone and find the ringer volume setting.

According to the menu, the ringer volume was up all the way...... but we took it to our grandson, either he or his dad fixed it although they didn't say how

I have had several LG phones and all all of them regardless of the settings you can set what they call Manner Mode. This makes the phone vibrate instead of ring. On every phone I have had you hold the STAR button (lower left) until the phone either vibrates or rings depending on which way you are switching it.

I had tried the star button and I could supposedly turn either the vibrate or manner mode on or off - but I couldn't get the phone to ring I'll have to ask our grandson what he did next time I see him. My wife didn't ask, just gave him a hug for fixing it

pitiful that our soon to be 12 yr old grandson knows more about cell phones than we do
