ZTE Majesty Phone Customization

ZTE Majesty Phone Customization
I use Straight Talk as my provider.
My phone is running Android Jelly Bean. I'm new to Android. My phone is not "rooted."
I want to change the font but there's nowhere to do it. Some apps are for rooted phones and allow you to change the font. Some "launchers" will let you change a little bit of the fonts but not on the suystem (so I've read.)
Is rooting a phone really a bad idea? I like customization to the fullest!
Is there a place to go to learn all about rooting?
Thank you so much.

I bought a used Nook Color Ebook reader for $44 and turned it in to a full service Android tablet by rooting. Spent a couple of weeks reading and rereading the instructions and asking questions before trying it. Worked without a problem. Here is a forum that was helpful to me: Android Forums & Windows Phone Discussion @ xda-developers

My son has that phone. We all have straight talk...
IMO I would not root it... I can ask him when he gets home, as he is 13 are more advanced then me in these matters.
We did tether tether though with a certain download from somewhere...
Just to use when camping so we can have a hotspot...

He said do a google search and/or find an androind site.
Example...
Majesty - Android Area51
From what I read it has not been done yet as it does not stick. Its temporary...
PDA if for the tether...
PdaNet+ -- Internet Sharing for Android

As a general rule, before you root your phone, make sure it's reversible - because it voids your warranty and any insurance/service contract you have.
But rooting does give you plenty more functionality in that you can install true backup software, you can install ad blockers, and you can remove all the factory bloatware that they get paid to force on you.
For most devices there is some sort of 'one click' rooting method. It's not always the best/preferred way for various reasons, but it is going to be the safest and the most foolproof method.
I suggest you find the appropriate forum over at www.xda-developers.com .. That site always has the best answers no matter what device.
