Telephone network interface box was cut

When I moved into this house, which was built in 1994, I noticed that the telephone network interface box had been cut, as shown in the photos. It is a real eye sore, and I am wondering what I should do about it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

It is probably not in use any more, but to fix it to the wall will probably be the right thing to do.
I would not have done that, I would have opened it and checked if the grey and black cables are connected, if yes I would have broken one wire and waited, if someone came and solved it it is in use, if nothing happened, i would have removed it and forgot it. That is probably wrong and someone could end up with sending me a bill, but that's the risk I would have taken. :-)
Easy for me to say, I'm in Norway with other rules.

It looks like it had two feeders to it. The smaller one was cut and replaced by a larger one.
I wouldn't cut it off. Just fasten it to the wall.
