USB cables

OK, got a STUPID question for you.

I have been on a buying spree lately.

Bought a digital cam, new printer and subscribed to local cable internet access (pipeline).

The new printer requires a USB port only. Sales guy talked me into the $30 gold plated cable because it was faster.

I have not installed the printer yet.

I have installed the cable modem, it came with a USB anc RJ-45 cable. Since I have a network card, I do not need the USB cable.
Now I was thinking us using the extra USB cable for the printer and returning the $30 cable.

Is there really a difference in speed to the pronter based upon the cable?

I know Best Buy has a huge margin on the cable, but I just can;t believe that it will make a noticeable difference.

Does anybody have any advice for me?

The cable is probably faster than the printer, no?

The new Printer is a Lexmark C65.

ANY USB cable will deliver data MUCH faster than your printer can print it.

The salesman was talking crap. Get your money back.

I agree with ejones... the cable will tranfer data at the amout the printer will need.. you dont need to go the "bells and whistles" route.

The $30 cable does look much better....
I haven't run any problems with any USB cables so far, and I've seen some very, very cheap constructed ones.
If the cable is pretty long (more then 6') then make sure you get a shielded cable, not all of them are shielded.
