Transparent window

For the last two days when I click on a link, a transparent window opens up and you can still see right thru it to the window containing the original link. The hourglass sits there like it is trying to open and nothing happens. The window is always titled Microsft Inetrnet Explorer. I have win 98SE. IE 5.5.
Thanks

Sounds like it's trying to open the page. You may be running across a broken link. Try right-clicking the link and copy shortcut, then paste to the already open IE window. If it just sits and sits and never opens the window, I would say you either are running across a broken link or a busy server. Optionally, you could paste the link here and we could give it a try for you (unless it's porn, of course )

Thanks Safewatch, it is not any one particular link this is happening on. If I click on a link that closes the window I am in, the link window will open, however; if it is just a pop-up window that does not close the window I am in, this is when I get the transaparent window.
thanks

Try upgrading your IE to 6.0 or 6.1. Not sure if that will fix it, but it can't hurt. I looked at the MS knowledge base, as usual, no help there.

How long do you usually wait before closing the window?

Have you tried the right-click and copy shortcut method?

Good luck!
