Gator won't go away!

Hi all,

I've been trying to get gator to go away for about 15 minutes.

I use BPS spyware remover and it's been able to get rid of the gator folder (which windows explorer wouldn't let me do).

But every time I have the spyware program scan the registry it comes up with a *&#!&*@#% gator key.

I have a couple of programs that included gator, but I used to be able to stay rid of it before I formatted my hard drive and started fresh yesterday.

Anybody know how to stay rid of gator? (I'm aware I could probably uninstall the software that included it, but it was working before!)

Thanks in advance.

Uninstalling the program that brought it with it might be the best approach. Sometimes uninstalling is the best, cleanest approach. This must be some of the MP3 sharing programs to be that persistant and hard to remove.

Registry cleaning programs such as: Cleansweep might help.

Jason,
Lots of software comes with hidden little programs and Gator is one of them. Try this little program to scan your computer for it and other "SPYWARE".

I was in need of a spyware remover due to a xupitor invasion that I couldn't find the source. I compared ad-aware and spybot and spybot won out hands down. A google search for ad-aware vs spybot will turn up a load of interesting reading as will a c-net/zdnet search. Get spybot

Personally,

I use both with regular updates.

It dosen't take long to use both and I alternate which one is first.

Something is always missed by the first one.

From what I've been reading this seems to be the most effective thing to do to get rid of this stuff.

Can't say which is best buy itself, both seem to miss about the same amount.

Good luck
