Required Startup Programs

I have P4 2.0GHz w/256 RAM

I have a new computer and want to know if someone can tell me the required STARTUP programs to have. I think I have alot of erroneous programs in my startup causing my computer to boot up real slow. Thanks in advance for the help.

Anti-virus. You can uncheck all of them and try it to see how it runs and add some of them back as you work with it. Systray is nice to have, but not necessary. Turning these off frees memory because there are not so many things running in the background.

Hope this helps.

click Start, Run. You can type the name of a program, folder, document, or even an Internet resource, and Windows will open it for you. In this case, we're going to type "msconfig" without the quotes.

The screen that displays has multiple tabs across the top. Click the one that says Startup. You'll see a list of programs with checked off boxes. Each one of these represents a program that Windows is loading into memory whenever you start your computer.Usually, most of the items normally checked off are not absolutely required. Post your results and we'll make recomendations.

There is also more than a few Services that run at startup but won't show up in msconfig. For a complete list of them go here
