In Windows 3.X you could change the program icon on the desktop at just about any time you wanted and for any reason. I've had this machine (Gateway/Win98) for just over three years. Is there some way to change the desktop icons or am I stuck with what I have? I have looked around in the machine but I don't see anything.

Right click on the icon on the desktop. On the shortcut tab there is an option to change the icon.

If you are trying to change system icons (ie: My Computer, My Documents, etc.) you have to go through the Display Properties dialog (right-click the desktop, click properties, it will be somewhere the Desktop tab.)

Good luck!
