O Exp 5 and W 98
I have one computer with W-98 and OE-5 on it. Just got married....my wife and I are each users on this puter and have set everything up accordingly.
BUT:
OE doesnt seem to see two diff users so we each get ALL our own mail and our partner's.
She gets hers AND mine.
I get hers and mine.
How can we config OE to see each person's mail when they sign in as user?
Thank you
ALSO is there some way of bypassing the USER logon - password popup and just making an icon to logon to user part?
Thx

Ok, you can bypass the Windows user logon (I'm assuming this is the logon you are talking about - not the OE login.) But, if you do that, you will both be using the same user account. You will have to find a 3rd party program that has accounts instead, I personally have never heard of or seen one, but I haven't looked either.
As for OE downloading everyone's e-mail, you need to check the OE Account settings. Go to Tools in the menu, Accounts. Then you can manage your accounts from there.
If that doesn't work, you can go to File, Identities >, Manage Identities and setup separate identities for each account. Of course, if you're using the same e-mail address, you'll just have to sort through, but I'm sure you know that and you have separate e-mail accounts.
It sounds like you are both using POP3 e-mail accounts, which, unfortunately OE doesn't really handle very well. If you are using POP3 or IMAP accounts OE throws all the new e-mail for all accounts into the Inbox, it doesn't sort them at all. In this case, you will have to use separate OE Identities to keep from downloading both accounts at the same time.
Good luck!

What I did in OE for me and the kids is to use the identies deal. I had my own identity and another labeled kids. In the kids folders I only had OE check for their mail, but applied filters that would redirect their mail into their own folders. This way nothing ended up in the Inbox, but already sorted in their own folders under Inbox.
You can do what I did for you and your wife (setting up different folders) by using the filters to send your mail into your folder, hers into her folder. If you prefer the privacy, then using SafeWatches' method of identities is the best way. As stated, be sure to check that your identity is only checking for your mail, not both persons' accounts.

Ps. If you need more explanation of how to accomplish any of these, please let us know. We will be more than happy to help you set it up.
