Changing Modem Port

Changing Modem Port
I need to move my modem from port 3 to COM1 or 2, due to my internet companies guidelines (not sure why). I have a lucent winmodem and it came with my rebuild computer and I do not have a disc. Is there anyway I can Move this without doing and "uninstall" and install or will I have to buy a new modem so that a disc will be available?

First of all, that's ridiculous to have to change COM ports to use their software (and I'm assuming that's why you have to - their software only supports COMs 1 & 2.) Personally, if it were me, I would find another ISP, it sounds like you are going to have a lot of problems with these guys. Their equipment and software are obviously not current. Anyway...
I've done this before, but it's been quite a few years. Don't worry about the software for the modem, pretty much every version of Win95+ has drivers for it. If you're worried about it, get the drivers from www.driverguide.com
Now, that being said, we need to know more about your computer/OS/hardware, etc. etc. etc. to be of any help.
If you haven't already, read the STICKY's at the top of the Computer Forum. Thanks.
