Is this a personal computer or work? Did it come with the interactive training or is it something you installed?
For your sound try this:
Install the Microsoft Audio Compression Codec driver: ADPCM CODEC. To do so:
Click the Start button, select Settings and click Control Panel
Start the Hardware Installation Wizard by double-clicking Add New Hardware
Click Next
In the next dialogue box you will be asked:
"Do you want Windows to search for your new hardware".
Select No and click Next
Select Sound, video and games controllers
Click Next
Select from the Manufacturers Microsoft Audio Codecs
Select from the Models: ADPCM CODEC and click Next
Click Finish
Close the Control Panel and restart Windows.

The database problem sounds like a network issue. It sounds like the program is looking for a database on your network to get the training courses from. This is typically done in large-scale networks where there are a lot of IT guys working on and getting IT certification. The company purchases the training software and makes it available to the whole company through the network. If you're not on that network anymore, then the computer can't find the necessary files to run the training. Just a guess there. I'm also guessing you bought this computer used? Or stole it from a large company? J/K

As for the sound issue, follow tae's advice.

Good luck!
