The x means that the picture cannot be loaded for some reason. Sometimes you don't have the right plugin or you have something turned off or the item is not available. The pictures are there and load from your web page files. I guess that you have something turned off in your browser or firewall.
What operating system are you using and which browser? What type connection to the internet?

If you can see pictures; YOU can see pictures; Though, you might want to visit someplace near the top of the food chain which you have never visited before, someplace like http://www.nytimes.com or search for some kind of strange image using Google's imagesearch just to make sure you are not drawing from cache.
The page you referenced is served by a freespace provider and there are a variety of software products that can make communities and my experience is that those which are free or low-cost usually won't work properly for even their product test. I can't see from the outside, but the page you referenced loaded very slow for me and if the freespace provider has installed one of the more worthless software products on his home computer and when you combine that with the hour of the day or day of the week; This would explain your plight.
But, if you can see pictures from big-time corporate webs and are only having trouble on pages served by a low-level freespace provider; It is not YOUR problem and if it were me, I'd seek out another home for your page or start a campaign; Yahoo! Directory: Free Webspace Providers
Though, let us know if you are having trouble with big-time corporates...
Good Luck;

confusion kinda hurts
yeah i think ill have to do that i have seen them before then the x's then the pic's then the x's again. i am also worried that this post will end in the void as my last one did (willywhy's SON) i use another free website that always loads the pics but the wysiwug is not as good. I have also tried the yahoo page editer as you have sugggested but i could only edit the geocities subpages IE: ww.geociteis.cm/silentmystic/home....(wontworkandnotreal) or what ever the first page is. it can not be edited or atleast it is very hard to and i have not figured it out. i can make a subdiretery page that can be edited but again the wysiwug is not as good as the website i use already even with out the pics

Your post will not end in the void and as long as we can understand your question, perhaps we can give you some answers; BTW: I figured who you were; Apologies for Saturday's night's confusion...
You can only use the built-in editor for the specific freespace provider; Most products do allow for uploads, so if you wanted to build your own page outside of their editor and upload, if the freespace provider has enabled that feature, go for it. Of course, if you are having problems with their editor, people visiting the site are most likely having problems viewing your page and that is why I included the link to alternative freespace providers.
If for some reason, you want to stay within the community you referenced; You most likely can find some wysiwug editors on download.com, but other than the one that is included with Netscape and about five minutes worth of playing with the one in MS Word; I just don't have any experience with them, because you really don't have a lot of control and they usually throw-in a lot of extra junk; Plus, I guess I'm old-fashioned. But, if you are only wanting to work on a hobby site or two, there really isn't anything wrong with them, I guess...
Nonetheless, if you were to download an editor and upload your pages; You are still going to be served on a problematic platform because either the provider's pipe isn't big enough, or they don't have enough resources, or they installed one of the more worthless software products, or a combination of any of the above...

no problem for the confusion and ill probly take your sugestion on looking at other providers. i am looking for one where i can upload my own pictures like i did at the other site. of well to the old drawing board and more sleepless nights making another site again. hesh after lets see freewebs,freehosts,geocites, i am probly just going to make a simple newspaper and mail it to the 35 million people in the USA. itll probly take a lot less time huh

If it makes you feel any better; I did do a bit of clicking and you may have just had a bad time of day (afterschool) and words do come-up at a fairly reasonable rate; As I told your Dad; The buttons on the editor should still work even if the images are x's; Just run your mouse over them and try to figure them out from the statusbar, or I guess you could "Print Screen" when it is working and use that as a reference.
But, if you don't like the editors built into the other communities and you aren't ready for notepad; Look through download and possibly through cws, maybe try the one in Word and as I said, I personally have no real problems with the one which is included in Netscape.
Good Luck;

BTW: The provider you referenced also serves adult sites; If you combine gaming and adult sites, you are going to have a bottleneck on weekend evenings, no doubt about it; If you are going to change providers, you might want to avoid those who allow for adultpages just to cut-down on the draw on the server's resources.
