Usually the camera will come with a USB cable to connect to the computer, if not, it shoud be available. All the reader will do is enable you to read the card without going through the camera (this would really only be useful if you were going to be taking a lot of pictures and didn't want to run the batteries down on the camera while downloading the pics.)

You can get readers online fairly cheap - try NewEgg.com - I saw some the other day over there. I think they were 6-in-1's for about $10-15?? if I remember correctly.

I'm assuming you meant you have an HP 230 Photosmart portable photo printer. Off the top of my head I don't recall a 320 being released.

To print pictures you won't need a reader since the printer has built-in Secure Digital/MultiMedia Card, Compact Flash, SmartMedia, and Memory Stick slots.

If your camera has a usb port, you'll be able to transfer pictures from your camera to your computer for long-term storage.

You can also use your HP 230 as a memory card reader through your computer. Just be sure the 230 drivers are installed and it's functional, turn it on, and put in the memory card. The card should show up in "My Computer" as "Removable Device Storage" and from there you can also download the pictures onto your computer and delete them off the card.
