Problem in Compaq CV535 monitor

Using with my Compaq 5400 US computer.
In the recent past if I move the picture on the monitor off screen
either left or right and then center it up again the letters have
a chopped look, slices missing,in the letters that went off the
screen out of view.

I have changed the size of the pictures, it makes no diff.

I have dequased,sp?, it, no diff.

If I click and hold the left button and pass the pointer over
the chopped/sliced letters it fills in the missing areas.

Anyone seen this condition, any ideas etc?

I have seen it when the gui or the application is trying to crash. My feeling on this is that the video memory is overloaded. My experience has been that shutting down the application or some others and restarting it will take care of the problem.

Hope this helps.

GUI = Graphical User Interface (Windows interface, IOW.)

Sounds to me like either a VRam problem or possibly system memory - what are the specs on your computer?

I have seen this problem a few times. The solution that worked for me was to install the latest video card drivers from the manufacturers website.

If that does not work it may also help if you reduce the color quality from 32bit to 16bit if it is a video memory problem. I dont think it is a problem with your actual monitor though.
