processor

sometimes my processor will hum along a little louder at differant times.I wonder what causes that?I figure If the CPU gets a little hotter the thing will hum louder?
What ya think?

What you may be hearing is the fan. I don't think that the processor hums.

Yep, this is typical of a fan going bad - the bearings start wearing out. You are correct about one thing, it probably does get louder when the CPU gets hotter - simply because the fan probably speeds up when it gets hotter.

Might be a good idea to go ahead and replace that fan.

I also agree it is a fan. However, it may not necessarily be the CPU fan. It could be any of the other fans. you can open it up and tap on the fans to see if it affects it any. Then replace whichever one is the culprit with a VERY similar fan.
