Explorer Keeps shutting down

My wife is running Windows 98 on her home pc. She connects to the Internet through Internet Explorer. Explorer comes up but when she clicks on another link, it shuts down. Also, when it does stay up I have to do a Ctl-ALT-DEL to close the window. What the heck is the problem?????

Thanks!!

I assume you mean that Internet Explorer comes up. Be careful of your wording, Explorer is part of the OS and should not be confused with Inernet Explorer.

If this problem happens with every web page and every link and is a new problem (ie everything used to work fine) then I would reinstall Internet Explorer, as it is likely that one or more of it's files has become corrupted.

You could also try a repair - but usually it's just as easy to reinstall. Have you tried changing the Home Page of IE, just in case it was hi-jacked?

To do this, go into Control Panel/Internet Options - then click "Use Blank" for the Home Page. Try again and see what happens. If still no luck, try reinstalling.

Good luck!
