Missing Internet Explorer

Missing Internet Explorer

OK. . .it might still be on my laptop but the Icon is gone and I can't locate doing a search.

Laptop came from my former employer as part of a severance package (Toshiba Tecra 8000). It was first "sanitized" by the help desk and no telling what got stripped off. My next project will trying to get it wireless capable.

How do I locate and/or re-install the Internet Explorer?

Thanks,

Paul

Do a search in for the program. Go into start menu, then go into search or find files, depending what operating system you have. Type in "Internet" It will come up with anything that has to do with internet. As soon as you see internet explorer, right click on it and then select send to, and select send to desktop create short cut. Make sure the short cit you are creating is off of the internet explorer program. Hope that helps you out.

Thanks for the input.

Two questions:

A. I did find an Internet Explorer shortcut on my computer doing a find (Windows95). Sent it to the desktop but it doesn't look like the standard icon (square with blue band across top, shortcut arrow in the lower left and named appropriately "Internet Explorer"). Does this matter?

2. How do I go about downloading the newest version on the laptop if I can't access the internet? I'm sending this from my desktop.

Thanks again,

Paul

Heh. What came first? The browser or the browser to download the browser?

If you've got a destop, just download the 230-ishK installer program from the MS site and put it on a floppy.

Personally, I always keep a copy of NetScrape around for "backup".

You cannot install the newest version of Internet Explorer with Windows 95. Windows 95 only supports up to something like 5.5.
